Garmin iQue 3600 PDA/GPS Handheld System with Americas Detailed Street Mapping Garmin iQue 3600 PDA/GPS Handheld System with Americas Detailed Street Mapping

I didn't try to use my Garmin iQue for a couple of weeks after I bought it. Big mistake. The button/wheel on the left was broken - and if accidently touched, it would make the screen go crazy...jumping very fast from one icon to another. I had to leave it on top of my stove overnight because it started to get hot and I couldn't turn it off. What a piece of sh..! I am very disappointed and would like to return it, but the buyer said returns only for 1 week. If something is broken, the seller should say so in the ad. This is the first time I have ever bought anything used online, and it will be my last. Don't buy anything from this seller.

Was not refurbished did not work. Wrong power cord could not load maps. I returned to where it was shipped from, have not got credit card credit. Not happy feel violated. Not even worth 1 star.

The unit's software has a lot of problems. The device is very slow. Battery does not last as long as advertised. When battery dies all saved internal information is lost. The new maps are not up to date. Customer service is terrible. Garmin's support phone line is always busy (for a reason!!!), usually you would have to stay about 20-30 minutes before you can speak to anyone. Very frustrating conversation - Garmin's employees are used to talk mean (because of many frustrated customers calls).

This is perhaps the fourth Garmin iQue 3600 I've owned. I use it everyday so if I had to say anything bad about it is that it doesn't last forever. The screen on my last one broke. But the things is packed with features that I don't think are available on any other PDA. First the GPS system is superb. If you add a 2gb SD card you can have every street in the US or the EU at your fingertips. I just came back from a 2000 mile drive in Europe and this thing provided turn by turn directions perfectly. The Palm PDA works great too. You can add any of the thousands of apps if you want. I hve my whole life on it. Too bad they aren't making it anymore. If anybody knows of any equivalent I'd like to hear about it.

This is a lousy product from Garmin. It is not "out of the box ready to use" - in fact not even close! It took me one whole day (almost) to set it up (with maps and everything) and it was not easy going through the process. I wonder why they did not pre-load the entire US map. Perhaps because it does not come with SD memory stick ($20 extra), but I would much rather have paid that extra. The antenna is VERY WEAK. Takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes before it locks on the satellite signal. My built-in car Navigation device does it instantly. It is an EXPENSIVE Palm Pilot....at the very best!

Solus Pro 2.0 for Palm Solus Pro 2.0 for Palm

before anyone orders solus pro program they need to read about it and see what delorme maps will work with it after it is install into your pda. all of their maps does not have zoom support

One of the things I was really looking forward to as a new Palm owner was having maps on my Palm. I found Solus Pro 2.0 at a nearby store and picked it up, thinking it was just the thing. Well, I'm a bit disappointed, and here's why:First, reading a map on your Palm is a lot harder than reading a printed map, for some reason. Expect to be disoriented a lot.The maps on the CD work pretty well (I was using the San Francisco map). I could find places to go reasonably well. My biggest gripes are the speed (slooow), and the fact that street names don't always follow the street. For example, if I look up a street that runs the length of the city, and then zoom in on it, it's name is not necessarily displayed any longer. This was very frustrating when zoomed far in, as few if any of the streets I was looking for were labelled. ... I downloaded a map of the city I live in, and found it fairly useless. Zoomed out, it displays no streets. Zoomed in, many streets simply have no name. The size of the map is also very limited, and no location (businesses, restaurants, etc.) data is included.Overall, this is a decent product for the maps that are included on the CD. I'd hesitate to recommend it's use outside of those areas. And I'm still looking for that ultimate mapping software package...

Magellan MapSend Streets (Europe) Magellan MapSend Streets (Europe)

This product was discontinued in December 2000, according to the Magellan web site. I installed the product on Windows XP Professional, and discovered that the Search features do not work. (None of them.) Magellan's technical support replied to my request for help by pointing out that it is a discontinued product which is no longer supported. They suggested buying a different, newer product. I agree. Buy something else. If you just want a map of Europe, Microsoft AutoRoute Europe 2007 works pretty well, though incomplete in at least some areas of Italy. Of course, it won't help with your Magellan GPS.

Mapsend Europe installed easily and performs as expected. Downloading to the GPS was easy. A judgement on accuracy of the maps will have to wait until we return from Europe in October 2005.

DeLorme Earthmate BT-20 with Street Atlas USA Plus DeLorme Earthmate BT-20 with Street Atlas USA Plus

Reviews

I was tempted to switch from Microsoft Streets and Trips because Microsoft used to ship with a GPS receiver which due to its poor design broke for me. BT-20 was the only laptop navigation software with a GPS receiver which supported both Bluetooth and USB. However the software just plain sucks. i) The routing engine is pathetic. It doesn't honor specified road preferences. Neither does it seem to differentiate quickest from shortest. Compared to Street and Trips it consistently chose the suboptimal route, preferring Forest Roads and Unpaved Roads even when told explicitly to avoid them. ii) Disabling screen saver would have been a very useful option but it doesn't work. iii) Route recalculation threshold doesn't work either. If I just switch lanes on a highway it thinks I'm "Off Route" and starts recalculating (even with the recalculation threshold set to highest 500ft). iv) The software doesn't understand the concept of one way lanes and keeps recommending travel in the wrong direction on a one way street. v) Maps and routes are a lot harder to visualize than Street and Trips vi) Spoken names feature can't pronounce difficult street names vii) When GPS is on you can't permanently change zoom level viii) Finding an address without a zipcode is very slow and with a zipcode requires too many clicks. ix) Point of Interest list seems poor compared to Street and Trips (which I always thought was old). x) I have seen initial satellite lock times to be longer than advertised 10 minutes. Even though I used Street and Trips for years I wasn't particularly a fan of it and kept hoping Microsoft would have a credible competitor in this space but Delorme's software makes me think that Street and Trips guys actually did a decent job. To Delorme's credit they do have Voice commands (which I haven't tried) and I like their zoom out using the mouse option as well as the overview available when routing using GPS in 2D. Regardless of the good points/intent it should be illegal to sell such buggy software !

I have used DeLorme maps and a GPS device for years and have been well satisfied with their quality. So, it was with some anticipation that I purchased the Earthmate BT-20 with the Street Atlas USA Plus 2007. The map software worked quite well as usual. However, the Earthmate BT-20 was not compatible with my Treo 650 with Palm OS or my desk top PC. A lengthy discussion with a DeLorme Tech did not resolve the issue. Also, a review of the GPS forum showed that others were having similar problems. The Earthmate BT-20 may work on other devices. But, I would do a lot more research before purchase.

This is a very functional product. It takes a while to learn to use well and the map data or the GPS accuracy are sometimes limited (it often shows you are traveling next to the road and not on it. No problems using with windows XP laptop and Dell Axim. Overall a good value, but you get what you pay for.

Had high hopes for this product but it if very disappointing. It was almost impossible to get both the maps and the program on my Treo Smartphone. Doesn't really work on the phone because it continually locks up, the only way to start navigating again is to reboot the phone. Go through a 5 minute, completely non-intuitive, routing process. Then wait 3-8 minutes for a simple route to be created (something the other brands do in a few seconds) then hope it does not lock up again within a few blocks (which it will). If you make a wrong turn, you have to either find your way back on track or go through the whole process again. Another problem is sending maps to the phone is cumbersome and you can only send small portions at a time--big portions lock it up. This is completely stupid b/c with a 2GB SD card I should be able to put pretty much the whole country on it. I've used another GPS that had detailed maps of the entire USA on a 1GB card. Bottom line: For use on your Treo, it is completely useless. On the laptop, it does a decent job including the much needed automatic re-routing but the map program for planning routes etc. is very difficult to use. I've own other Delorme products and they were much better that this product. If you have infinite patience and many, many hours to devote to learning how to use this product then it may work well, I have a job and a life and cannot devote nearly enough time to make it very useful.

The DeLorme Street Atlas Plus installed without problems. I am impressed that it covers the USA and Canada. I am very happy with it. I set up the Earthmate BT-20 GPS with my Palm TX handheld unit. It was easy to set up as long as the Palm TX unit Bluetooth detected the BT-20. The BT-20 and the Palm TX unit worked fine together. The only problem I encountered was that the Palm TX unit display was not very easy to see in the daylight. I also wish the BT-20 GPS unit had more information in the little manual with it.

PalmOne: Directions on the Go PalmOne: Directions on the Go

Reviews

Worst software purchase ever! After having a useful Psion directions program when I lived in London 6 years ago, I thought I should get something similar for my Palm Zire 72 now I'm in Seattle. I even thought there might be some improvements in the last few years, especially with Palm being the market leader...WRONG!! If I type in my (unique!) Seattle address, it gives me 3 options - all of which are incorrect! It defaults to one 30 blocks north of me! Then practically every address I have looked for (friend's houses, restaurants, etc.) have been incorrect too! Sometimes addresses even come up on the maps and directions as "@#8&%%!??#@ Avenue"!! The program also crashes and it takes several attempts at entering the data from scratch each time before it takes it (and spits out the incorrect information!). So this has been a total and utter waste of money and time and the source of much unnecessary stress! I bought it from the Palm Store and couldn't return it as it was open box software, so I then contacted smart2go/MDM but they would only offer me a choice of one of their other programs as a consolation. Their selection was limited and as I did not want the Bible, went for an Encyclopedia card (which I will probably never use)... DO NOT BUY!!

After I loaded this software on my Palm, I tried it out by mapping a route from home to work. It could not get my home address correct and started me out from a neighboring street instead. It couldn't even route me through the major highways in the Austin TX metro area correctly. I then tried it for Houston, and same story. The display and the way it zooms in and out and marks road names on the on-screen map leave much to be desired. I can hardly get any information out of the display. I do not recommend this software at all.

What a worthless purchase. I do a lot of travelling and thought this would be great. Sounded wonderful, even sold on the palmone website. Boy was I ever mistaken. Wish I would've gotten the reviews before wasting my money. You can't read the maps, maps are only for a few cities, and the interface is less than user friendly. I finally went with Earthcomber, but when that didn't have directions (just the map and POI, but its all free) I got Mapopolis, which is wonderful. If you want Directions on the Go, rethink it, I suggest Mapopolis. Same price (also a free trial version of ANY map in the US for 9 days) and also has contiguous maps of the entire US with direction capability and POI's!!!!

I am NOT happy with this product. They don't even have the major cities in my state, let alone the city I live in. When I emailed them about it, they said they were updating the cities but mine was not on the list and they didn't know when it would be. I'm definitely getting my $40 bucks back and never buying their products again!

I wouldn't even rate this a '1' because I feel so gipped out of the $35 I spent. I bought this product as a gift for my boyfriend through Amazon a while back-- before there were any reviews about this product. I have to agree with all of the previous reviews. Unless you live in a major metropolitan area, this product is completely useless. I thought that this would be a good alternative for him instead of going to Mapquest on his phone. Now, he just winds up using mapquest anyways. If you need directions to and from the city, 'Directions on the Go' works fine, but if you need to travel from the city to the suburbs or vice versa, you're out of luck. He never even uses this product anymore... Poor gift choice on my part.

P002 : Universal USB Car Charger Adapter P002 : Universal USB Car Charger Adapter

I was in need of another automobile usb charging solution, and that is what led me to discover this little gem! It is small, light weight, fuse protected, and plugs into any standard cigarette lighter. On the posterior face is a single usb port. The product performs as claimed and is a steal for the price. Heck, why pay 30 bucks at the verizon store for a car charger for the Android when you can pay 3? :)

Many of you people are proof that you cannot satisfy the masses regardless of what you provide them. This thing is selling for one penny, performs it's intended function and you are reviewing it as if it were a thousand dollars worth of electronics. Grant it I do not charge phones or iPods with it and considering the cost would be apprehensive about doing so. Mine for recharging electronic cigarettes and it performs that function as well as did the $9.00 charger it was replacing. In fact when I ordered it I never expected to see it delivered for a total price, including the shipping charges, of less than $3.00. I couldn't be happier and wish I would stumble across more useable items on Amazon for $.01. Anyone needing a USB charger for your car has nothing to lose by ordering this one and it does perform its intended function.

This item is so easy to use and it works just fine with all my mp3's.

Not only does this charge your fuze but you can use your player too.Plus it cuts about an hour off computer charge time. You can use it for other rechargeables as long as they use a USB 2.0 cable. For $3 you would be crazy not to own one!!

I got this device mainly so I can charge my iPhone with it. first time it worked great but then other time a message would appear on the iPhone saying that this device is not meant to work with the iPhone. It takes a few tries for it to charge. As this is mainly Apple's fault for creating more problems than solutions when working with products they do not sell them selves, I feel the manufacture of this charger should have placed a comment saying "May not work with apple products". In any case, with the rest of the products it works. fairly simple to use and does not weight much.

Tried to move the slider to fit in the phone and it broke on first try. Flimsy plastic. Trashed.

I purchased another windsheild mount that was more expensive. I need a mount that will work with my I phone in it's Otterbox case. The previous one, and this one, both have side arms that will grab the Otterbox. The second day I had the other brand, the phone holder snapped off in my hand as I tried to make a minor adjustment in the angle of the phone. DANG! That one went back, I got a refund. After reading many many reviews, I found that all of these windshield mount holders break, some more quickly than others. So I decided to purchase the cheapest one, to minimize my losses. I like this one pretty well. The arm is more flexible than the original one, and I am careful to try to grab the arm and the holder when I adjust the angle, but because this arm is more flexible, it's easier to adjust. This one will adjust to verticle or horizontal, and has a locking pin that works very nicely. Yes, it bounces more than the other item, but this one is going on two weeks and hasn't broken. Both this one and the other grab the phone, but don't want to let go (the button for release doesn't work after the first few days) but the Otterbox is soft on the outside and I can pull it out without messing up the phone or the holder. But here's the mysterious part: Both this holder and the one that lasted a day and a half have this problem. In a cold car, with the humidity level just right, if you are not properly in line with the earth's magnetic poles (yes, I am kidding) the touch screen simply does not react to touch. There seems to be a problem with the capacitance detection system, perhaps because the holder is attached to the windsheild glass, and it insulates the phone and holder from you and the capacitance of the car. I found that rubbing the neck of the holder up and down (which looks VERY strange in traffic and might get you arrested) sometimes would create a capacitive differential. I finally figured out that plugging the phone in to it's charger properly grounded it, and I don't have touch detection problems when it is attached to the charger. But if you don't plug your phone into the charger, you will find that, at times, the phone simply does not detect your inputs, and that is VERY frustrating indeed.

This product is absolute crapolla. What a chump I am. It is so cheaply constructed there is no way I'm hanging my pda on it. The clips wouldn't fit my Dodge Durango vent either. Run from this one.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FCCDTO/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_img

Bought this so I could use my GPS feature on my iPhone...worked well for the first day until I decided to move the mount to a different spot on my windshield. The cheap plastic tab that locks the suction cup down broke like a weak twig. Now the suction will not grip the window since I have no lever to lock it down. If I could, I would have given no stars at all! Very upsetting!!!!

I thought this was what I wanted until I tried mounting it, the suction cup is junk. Stuck to the windshield for all of 5 seconds 3 times. Prime example of that great Chinese quality we have all come to love.

Crystal Lucite Hard Shell Case for iPhone 2G from Prima Cases Crystal Lucite Hard Shell Case for iPhone 2G from Prima Cases

This product is pretty cheap but seems to be working ok. The fit wasn't totally right for my iphone but I managed to squeeze it on. And I dropped it once and the case fell apart but didn't break so I was able to put it back on but it seemed to defeat the purpose of protecting the phone in case you accidentally drop it. All in all, you really do get what you pay for. Not sure if I would ever buy this product again.

I basically needed a cover for my iPhone and it did the job. It comes off quickly when i drop it and there is no cover for the actual screen but besides that it is just fine.

I am relatively certain this case was made using only the cheapest of materials available. It also appears to have been constructed by a three year old Chinese kid who is chained to a table for 18 hours per day. Don't waste your money. This case broke the second day!

The item clearly says that this is for the IPHONE. Of course it won't fit the iPod Touch!

This is not for the IPod Touch 2g. I just got this 5 minutes ago and I'm printing the label. I'll be sending it back tomorrow. This doesn't fit the IPOD touch 2g. The Ipod moves around inside the case. It's so unsafe and opens easily. Maybe the wrong item was sent. I don't know I'm returning it.

This beanbag style mount works great for my Tom Tom XL340s, and stays in place on acceleration and cornering. The suction cup of the Tom Tom stays attached to the shiny surface inset in the square-shaped bag, and the unit can be tilted up or down without problems. I have tried the circular and semi-circular bean bag mounts from other manufacturers, and the short "stem" of the XL340s and the 4.3 inch screen prevent it from being tilted downwards on these other designs. As others have noted, however, unlike the illustration with the product, it shouls be oriented in a "diamond" configuration for maximum stability.

This GPS is exactly what I was looking for, very easy to use, accurate, and reliable.

Great product. Easy to use, navigates exactly as designed. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a lower cost GPS. Even though this unit was sold and purchased as "reconditioned", you could not convince me this was anything but a brand new unit. Glad I waited and purchased this unit thru Amazon.com.

can't beat the price and the GPS looks like new. Comes with all the accessories.

This is my second Garmin Nuvi 350 that I've own (my car was stolen and had to replace the first). I'm actually finding this refurbished unit to be more reliable then the first which I bought brand new! Although it sometimes has a slight delay in finding the current satellite location, I've simply learned to be sure I program the address outdoors and allow a few extra minutes for the unit to calculate. Outside of that, it's extremely easy to use and has various displays to suite your preference. Garmin has an excellent reputation and the refurbished unit is the best bang for your buck!

This product seems fine. I was a little nervous buying refurbished but except for the box seems brand new. It was quite a good savings and I would definitely purchase again.
