After much research and deciding rather I really needed a GPS I bought the Nuvi 260W. I knew I wanted the wide screen and street name announce, other than that my needs were pretty basic. The 260W fits the bill. Power it up out of the box and you're ready to go. The on-screen prompts are simple to follow. This little device makes driving to unfamiliar destinations a breeze...no more trying to follow a map or printed directions, especially at night. I also purchased the Friction-mount which makes it easy to put the GPS out of view with no suction mark on the windshield when parked in a public area. Don't forget the one-time free map/GPS upgrade, I don't think it was well advertised in the paperwork. I learned about it reading the reviews and specifically looked for the upgrade after registering. Mine came loaded with 2007 maps so I'm sure there have been quite a few changes.

It is the best. I can't imagine getting by without it now that I am used to it. For people who have to go places where they are not familiar it helps immensely. It is much better than Mapquest because if you take a wrong turn it corrects your error. The only problem is that it once took me to an address a few blocks away, but that problem is rare I would think. It tells you how far you have to go and how long it will take. I recommend it .

I haven't had it very long, but I am amazed at how accurate my Garmin 260 is. I'm really looking forward to using it a lot more this summer. I don't think you could go wrong buying this Idem.

The Nuvi 260 is easy to use and a wonderful tool for finding what's in the area, addresses to stores, restaurants and attractions. It works well.

Really like this Garmin - it is easy to program and has been accurate so far. Occasionally in areas that I am familar with it will take me a different route, but then, I'm using a short cut and wouldn't expect the Garmin to do that. Overall performance is great.

As it says, this is my first sojourn into the GPS world, so I don't have anything for comparison. I am overall very pleased with the Garmin, and find t fairly easy to use. I have two wishes for a GPS that has nothing to do with the good productivity of this product. I wish that there was an option to save more than just my one home address, so that I could use several different starting or ending points without having to re-enter the address each time. The other thing which I am certain is standard among all GPS is when you turn the unit on, you have to scan through the "agreement" screens each time before loading the maps. Overall, I would buy this item again or recommend it to anyone!

Great product. Blew my wife away. I never thought I would purchase something like this but I love it and I got it at a great price at Amazon.com.

This is a gr8 product. Easy to use. Never got lost (Yet). Would recommend to others if they ask me about this product.

I bought one of these units after my previous Nuvi developed a problem whereby the power kept shutting off. Alas, the warranty period had expired. The next time around, I bought the extended warranty offered by the store. I'm glad I did, because the audio voice immediately began stuttering. "Doctor Martin Luther King Drive" became "da-ma-er-ing...... (long pause) Drive". So I returned it to the store and got another unit in the same model, and then left on an extended vacation. The voice again stuttered, even when we disconnected the power cable. So, back to the store I went to return it. It's possible that these two units were shipped to the store at the same time and suffered some secret catastrophe together, so that I got two successive lemons. The store clerk agreed that they must have been dropped. The manual in the second box was for the "205W", which also raised my suspicions about what it had gone through prior to my purchase! As far as the use of the unit itself, I find the "traffic" and MPH features to be quite cool, although the unit thinks five cars in a line is "traffic ahead". In choosing a route, it does not always perform flawlessly, so it's still a good idea to have a map and at least *some* idea of where you are going, and upgrade your maps at least annually. In comparison to my first model, as others have noted, the streets that are not on your immediate route are not always named, which I find annoying because I'm used to having more detail and knowing which street is next. This model seemed to take an exceptionally long time to find satellites, compared to my inaugural unit. It's not a bad unit for the price, but... get the extended warranty if you can!!

Everything about the unit is fine, but I specifically was careful to order a NEW unit, not a refurbished unit, but it was a refurbished unit that was sent. This leaves a really bad feeling with me that you don't received what you order. Amazon should penalize suppliers that don't ship a NEW product when that is what the description states. This is the second time I come across this issue.

Gets me where I want to go and tells me when I will get there very accurately

I like pretty much everything about this product: the ease of use, the price, the customization, etc. But one thing really bugs me...the maps are very accurate, but the addresses are all jacked up. I thought it was my device, but I emailed Garmin and they said that's normal. It's designed to get you close to your destination rather that exactly to it. So that frustrates me. But other than that it's ok.

I should have got it sooner. It is very easy to use, screen is good to read and it is helping me greatly to find doctors offices, etc. with ease.

There is a slight learning curve with this product.It wouldn't list the town I was trying to spell so I had to dig out the map.And the map doesnt talk to you if you make the the wrong turn. all in all its worth the money. refurbished version!
