Cobra XRS 9960G Voice Alert 15-Band Radar/Laser Detector with 1.5-Inch Full-Color Display, GPS Locator, and Red Light/Speed FeaturesReviewsI'm not an expert about radar detectors and according to review in specialized websites it seem that the Cobra 9960G (9955 plus GPS) is a very good enough radar detector. It works well in that sense for me. GREATEST FEATURE: But what I really LOVE of it, is the GPS with which you can set places (up to a thousand) where you usually find enforcement radars. Typically when you go on one direction and fix a place where you watch an officer with a radar gun, and you're coming back... it will alert you when you get close and depending of your speed it will alert you with advance enough to take adecuated previsions. Very good purchase indee...!!! Garmin has always been my vendor of choice when it comes to radar detectors. I have used other high end brands in the past with less than satisfactory results. The fact that this model contained the GPS/camera detector was a great plus. One long term problem is that GPS cannot be updated from a MAC. Will have to find a friend with PC to update. I stumbled a little on the set up - booklet not as clear as it could be. Specifically, after setting what I thought I wanted, I could get the GPS to respond to camera alerts with clear voice and tone, but not x or K band radars (only ones I encountered to date). I looked again at the booklet and decided that maybe the Intellimute setting was muting the sounds. I had turned it on, but had not yet established an rpm setting. So I turned it off and now detector works like a charm!!!!!!! I also like the GPS compass, which allows direction without sacrificing features. This Radar dectector is well worth the money. It display's both visual and audio alerts when coming to traffic signals, lets me know if there is a camera and if active by displaying Red if active and non active if green. Just this morning alerted me of Laser radar being used, signal got stronger I was coming up to and passing a cop with radar gun. also alerted me of my speed which kept me from getting a ticket. Overall I really like this detector for my intended purpose. I have the screen set to time out after 30 seconds, leaving a tiny dot that blinks to let you know it is on. If an alert is sounded, the screen activates, a nice feature. As opposed to some reviews I have read, the programming is simple, I did mine without even reading the manual. Register the product on Cobra's website, download a little software and the GPS instantly updates. A word of advise, make certain you enter the serial number of the GPS fob and not the detector (as I did) or it won't recognize it. This issue is easily corrected, I simply registered again using the correct device number. I did notice this detector gives false POP readings when that feature is enabled, not sure how prevalent this annoyance is among other detectors since my S2 does not have POP. On the plus side, I did see a cop about 50% of the time when the POP alert was activated; coincidence? I'm not certain but further testing will certainly shed some light on it's performance in that arena. Other false alerts are about the same as my Escort S2 although it does seem to be less competent at filtering out other detectors when they pass by. We do have departments in this state that still use X and in fact it easily picked one up when I came across a mountie parked on a side street. The range is a bit less than my Escort S2 but not to the extent that it would affect me, I am not a habitual speeder. I purchased this unit primarily for the camera database. It is worth the money for that alone, in my opinion. These speed and stoplight cameras are simply an effort to further pick our pockets. This unit has detected around curves and over hills with plenty of advance warning. The ramp-up of the unit is slow. Most alerts don't go to full scale until the radar is in sight so you need to train yourself that when the unit initially alarms, check your speed and take appropriate action. As I mentioned, I am not a habitual or intentional speeder, so I don't need to drop 30 MPH in 100 feet to avoid a ticket. My concern is the radar traps that sit just inside a 30 MPH zone for example, the first sign is obscured by something such as vegetation, a curve or hill. I drive through mountains and quite often find this sort of thing. The Cobra has done a fine job sniffing them out and allowed plenty of time to react. It programs easily and the support from Cobra has been great so far. I e-mailed them several times for information and once for assistance and they got right back to me. The updates for the database are a snap as well. Downside would be the supplied short power cord and the windshield mount. All of these little suction cup mounts are cheesy, even the one that came with my Escort. You may as well plan on purchasing a good dashboard/windshield suction cup when you order the detector. I was using the smart power feature until I noticed that it shut the detector off while on an interstate and after conversing with tech support at Cobra they determined it is the ECU in the vehicle that allows voltage to fluctuate lower than the older style regulator. Prior to that, they swapped out another new unit for me to be certain that mine was OK. Although a bit disappointing because I do like the way it works, the service and technical support from Cobra has been second to none. I believe the issue can easily be corrected if Cobra ties the Smart Power feature to the engine RPMs as they have done with the Intellimute setting rather than relying upon battery voltage. Now I just leave the unit on all the time. I have not had a chance to test the red light feature but it seems there is plenty out on the net to read relative to the database, mostly positive. The emergency vehicle warning has gone off a couple of times as has the dangerous area warning. Two more really useful features IMHO! The sound level of the alerts is easily adjustable with the volume control, so there is no need to be concerned about that. So, in summation, if you need a detector that works quite well, has the camera database, is reasonably priced and comes with fantastic customer service support, this Cobra model may be the best choice. Cobra MRHH 425LI VP Marine VHF Transceiver with All Terrain RadioReviewsVery feature rich, what you need, nothing you don't. Covers GMRS and VHF, very usefull. Would benefit GREATLY from a remote microphone WITH channel change capability. Highly recommended. First things first. READ THE MANUAL. This has a lot of features - almost too many. The VHF/GMRS combo is extremely useful for families that already have a set of GMRS radios. I was recently out on the water a few miles out on a BIG lake in Idaho with the radio on "tri watch" listening to fishing charters talk about where the fish are at on VHF channels when my family was able to contact me from the GMRS radio at home. The portability is great, however I hope they think about adding the GMRS functionality to a standard mounted VHF unit as well. The lithium battery time is great and it has the option of switching to standard AA's with a separate battery cover which can give you extended life depending on how many AA batteries you want to bring or have in reserves. The clarity is amazing as well. Everything on this radio was thought out perfectly. A must for anyone with a boat and GMRS radios for the family/friends. I can count on one hand how many times I post product reviews but this product really is worth every penny. Good radio good signal quality. I bought this radio for use on my kayak while fishing. Reception is good and it's easy to use. I like the fact that it has GMRS capability. I can talk with fishing buddies who have the big box cheapies with out having to worry about how long before the water kills it. Thanks to the waterproof and floating design I don't worry about the "what ifs" as far as finding myself floating alone in the drink! Pros: Covers Marine VHF, GMRS. Comes with Li-rechargeable, drop-in charger, AC and DC power cords, and AA battery case. Good controls, metal frame, swivel-off belt clip, easy to read display. Detachable antenna with SMA connector and wrist strap. Cons: squelches take 1 second to unlock. FRS frequencies 1-7 are fixed to GMRS power and frequencies 8-14 are not included. no accessory like headphones. This radio is VHF/GMRS only, not FRS. FRS frequencies 8-14 are FRS only, and are not shared with GMRS. This radio is not marketed as an FRS radio, therefore FRS frequencies 8-14 are not included. Frequencies 1-7, and 15-22 are GMRS (with 1-7 only being shared with FRS). I test it in the City it works about 3- 3,5 Kilometers. Excellent radio! Has both marine band and GMRS to allow you to communicate with all other hand-helds. Also has weather channels. Kniaz would highly recommend it. Awesome radio, especially the fact that you not only get VHF, Weather Channels and Alerts, but you also get GMRS. Great battery life. Average Rating:![]() |

Cobra XRS R10G Voice Alert Radar/Laser Detector with Wireless Remote System, Full Color Screen and GPS Locator with Red Light/Speed featureReviewsI used this detector around Twins City on daily basis for a month and not get any false so far. This detecter doing amazing job and you should not pay twice for other brands as here is all what you need. I beleive now that Cobra just discriminated by other "top experts" for market reason. They probably get paid for it... Take Cobra's detector and GPS for same money as Valentine_1 and you will happy twice more! Well i purchased one of these because it seemed to have all the features i was looking for. Too bad the units ability does not meet Cobra's ambition. Too bad function is not on par with form. As the unit is very well thought out, user friendly & flat out cool. I have been using this for about a month now, & the fact that i have not been ticketed IS a positive point in it's favor, as i recently tricked out my Jetta & now hardly a day goes by that i dont hit 100 + mph. So yeah it DOES WORK. BUT As you have no doubt heard it is prone to false signals It WILL detect & sound off when in close proximity to another radar detector. Yes, you will have to deal with sorting out whats what when it sounds off, yet even though that is problematic.....it is not so much so to discount it's usefulness altogether. A quick visual scan will access the probability factor of the signals veracity, caution is advised as a mistake could be very costly. Detection range is sub par when compared to higher end units, yet it will alert within an acceptable radius giving you just enough reaction time. & truthfully....i do not want or need to be alerted to a radar gun going off 2 miles away.....that could be more confusing than close range false signals. So the detection range....although somewhat limited.....seems adequate. I REALLY like how stealthy the unit is....no ugly coiled "telephone cords" to alert others to my detectors presence. I REALLY like how i dont have to remember to turn the main unit on....it fires up when you start the car....with a voice informing you that the "system is ready" which reminds you to turn on the RDU [ remote display unit ] Yet even if you were to forget to turn the RDU on....you are still covered as the main unit will sound off anyways....you just wont enjoy the benefit of the signal ID feature. I think this is Cobra's best effort to date, it is very well thought out & executed & if it were not for the range & false signal issues would be a 5 star unit.I felt it just barely deserves the four star rating as i think the pros outweigh the cons. So bottom line is....this is the best "economy" unit out there at this moment IMO & will serve you well as long as you drive smart. Remember A radar detectors effectiveness is enhanced or eliminated by operator intelligence. They are not going to offer you a magic blanket of protection from the cops. Once you "tune into" a detector & realize it capabilities & limitations you work within those parameters & maximize your driving potential. So, even though this unit is not perfect.. .i can & do give it a good recommendation. Having owned the XRS-R9G, I fell in love with the GPS feature. However, I wanted the R10G with the mini-USB GPS unit. I found there to be a significant difference in appearance and cleanliness of this product on my windshield. As for actual use, this detector works on all bands, as specified. While driving on 422 in Philly area, it alerted me to all State troopers and various traffic signals. The Camera maps are accurate, as it has specified every intersection in my locale which utilizes a speed trap system. This detector is the best I would recommend in cleanliness and ease of use. It has kept me and my Pontiac G8 GXP safe from tickets for quite some time. This detector is fun with all it's gadgets, but for it's main job detecting radar it falses all the time. Even after I turn off instant on detection and and turn it to it's lowest city mode it still will false like no tomorrow. This is typical of cobra radar detectors though. I strongly suggest you save up for a little more and get a good detector instead of falling into cobra's trap of getting you interested with all the other things the detector does. I regret my purchase after researching online how all of cobra's radar detectors are subpar on their main job. Until cobra steps up their game I suggest you stay away. It does typically give you enough detection range to make use of a real threat when it happens, but the detector falses so much it's hard to tell a real from fake threat and you just start ignoring it after a while. If you like a neat remote control gadget that does lots of things buy this, but if you want a reliable radar detector that you can trust every time save a little more money and get a better one. Excellent product. Ease of operation; outstanding. Plug and play, simple. Drawback: NOT Vista 64 friendly. Cobra promises a patch for Vista 64 within 2 weeks..... Average Rating:![]() |

GPS Angel V4E Red Light and Speed Camera Detector - Includes Lifetime Camera Database SubscriptionReviewsGPS Angel V4E Red Light and Speed Camera Detector just beeps and flashs lights when it wants to. It seems to detect some traffic lights but not all traffic lights. I would not recommend the GPS Angel V4E to detect speed cameras or red lights. I thought it was the ideal product as advertise. A Colorado TV news group tested the device in Denver. It performed very well for stoplight cams. But it failed to alarm at mobile photo cams not in their database. Takes about 10 minutes to find signal. Tested and found camera. Overall a great investment if you are thinking about purchasing just buy it. In California their are tons of red light cameras. Think of it this way it for eight bucks you could save thousands of dollars ,because you must take into account. These tickets are not cheap. This device saved me twice.A+ product Got my GPS Angel recently and like it very much. First of all, it's just tiny - about 2.5 inches wide. It also doesn't look like anything someone would want to steal because no one would know what it is. The cord is long and not the curly type, so I was able to fully conceal it from view. It gives both visual and audible warnings of red light and speed cameras. It is supposed to alert near school zones, but it's missed a couple of times. No biggie for me. It can take a minute or so to acquire the GPS signal, but once connected I've had no problems unless going under an overpass or some such obstruction. then the signal comes right back. I especially like being able to add "points of interest": You press one of the kidney shaped buttons on top and it adds that location to the database. Perfect for known speed traps. Also, there was no set up time. It worked right out of the box. And get this, online updates are free for life! So it's a great value at purchase time and over the life of the unit. As I understand it, due to budget crunches in communities accross the country, police forces are being reduced - mostly in the traffic divisions. In their place, more red light and speed cameras are being installed all the time. They are cheap (and in some cases free) for communities to acquire and operate, they generate a steady revenue stream, they work 24 hours a day, everyday, with no days off, and they are infalliable. I've heard the database is not 100% up to date. Fine, that may be so. I'll still take 90% - 95% protection for a one time charge for a lifetime. Woundn't you? Worthless! Takes more than a minute to acquire satellites on a clear day and just about never on an overcast/raininy day. Frequently loses satellites on tree lined streets. Not able to control alerts enough to use in a city that has cameras at just about every other intersection. In other words, it is still warning you about the last camera and when the next is encountered. Is proximity based, so goes off if near a camera and not if approaching. Basically unusable and unreliable. Average Rating:![]() |

Cobra MRHH 325 VP Marine VHF TransceiverReviewsthe radio seems durable but heavy. communication range works well w/o obstruction for up to two miles..although, i needed a weather/water proof radio and this one failed right off when a small splash slightly cover the system. static began immediately and now doesnt work at all. the battery needed to be disconnected as well since it pops even in off position. the Cobra customer service has been difficult to reach and a replacement or repair for the specific radio takes way too long for my business and non-submersible (although states submersible) is usless in boating conditions. Easy to program, easy to use. Transmits and receives loud and clear. AC/DC charging capabilities. unbeatable price. winner winner winner! the radio works great and in my opinion was a great value it exceeded my expections in all areas except for water proofness. but i also relize that it's not waterproofness that lead me to buy this radio. i've always been satisfied with cobra radios. i'm completely satsified with my purchase! Even better than I expected. Great receptiom and transmitting range and truly waterproof. So much in such a small unit. Average Rating:![]() |
