This GPS receiver was packaged and rebranded with a Microsoft logo with Streets and Trips, and is almost worthless. You can count on this receiver not receiving anything if you have any amount of trees, buildings, or less-than-perfect weather conditions. In a vehicle in the most perfect conditions it only manages about four satellites, and that's with a clear sky and no surroundings. Please try to stay away from this GPS receiver.

One of the best players ever! It's a pitty that it doesn't have a microphone to record audio.

I purchased this product because I was looking for a replacement of my 4year old Sony MP3player which had to replace the battery not only that which needed to send TX repair center to open the player to fit in(the design is not meant be to open by customer) this was getting just too much hassle. Then I searched Sony MP3 player, the reason I chose 4GB because of the number of songs I own and also pricewise. I always go for Sony rather than other brands because of sound quality. Delivery was very quick and efficient. I am so happy with this new one, I like the appearance, weight, not only the sound quality. If you are looking for a reliable reasonable price and good sound quality I highly recommend this product.

I like it! But the only problem is it only can be charge with PC, doesn't come with wall charger or anything!

I purchased this item for my son and he loves it. While it is not an Apple product, it has great sound quality on the mp3 files and on the FM radio. We were able to transfer some mp3 files we had on our computer to this player and easily downloaded others. I would recommend this player to anyone and am thinking of purchasing one for myself.

Had trouble getting the correct driver. No drivers on the disk for Vista 64-bit laptops. Had to get help from Microsoft and Pharos to get the problem fixed. E-mailed drivers from Pharos come in zipped form and will not open,had to have Pharos send me a disk with an unzipped file. Microsoft had to delete old file drivers from the program to get the new drivers to work.

This unit came with Streets & Trips 2009 and failed in less than 60 days. Pharos is replacing it with a new one under warranty but will only give a 30 day warranty on the replacement GPS. The original had a 1 year warranty. Proceed with caution.

This was just the thing to go with a laptop and a program like MS Streets and Trips. Huge improvement over older larger devices I have used in the past.

Pharos GPS-500 and Bluetooth Connector - These are nice additions to my HP iPaq 2495 PDA. I did have some trouble installing it initially, but once the bugs were worked out, it tested fine and was able to pinpoint my location within a few feet. I am using Mobile Google Earth for the mapping with the PDA; since its a PDA and not a smart-phone, I access the Internet with my PDA using my Motorolla Razr as a modem and it's bluetooth connection [to the PDA]. The GPS unit with the Bluetooth connection works well. I would recommend this for persons wanting to connect their PDA's to a GPS unit. Those users must understand that most of the new mapping technology requires an Internet connection with your PDA because Microsoft Streets & Trips doesn't exist for PDA's anymore. Microsoft Live Search and Mobile Google Maps require the Internet connection for their maps; this requires less space on your PDA, but you need Internet connection for your service. Good Product.

My first GPS receiver developed problems after about 5 years of constant use. I replaced it with this newer receiver and it works great. I like the fact that I can use the cable included or plug straight into the USB port on my laptop if desired. Connection is simple and the units small size makes it easy to use.

I needed a GPS solution that didn't break the bank. After using a Garmin while on vacation, once, I had fallen in love with the concept. I figured I needed to get a solution of my own. After a bit of research I opted to go with this one and I haven't been disappointed yet. The versatility of the chipset allows me to use a variety of F/OSS applications that fulfill most if not all of my GPS needs. The easy integration with Google earth as well as my PDA was an added plus. Thank the Lord I'll never be lost again!

I have spent 2-3 hours trying to getting this unit to function. The internal light comes on, the computer says there is a device out there, but can't get it to work. Probably my lack of understanding, but the printed guideance leaves something to be desired. I'm going to try it on another computer.

Don't buy it. The annoucement says that it's the Dock AND GPS Pharos, but it's not truth. It's only the Dock. Also they said that it would be delivered until June 23rd, but it only arrived on June 29th. Does anybody want to buy a Dock ? I have one here.

This seemed like a good idea. Wireless dock for the sensor I already owned. The product literature even referenced my version of Streets and Trips, and the specific GPS-500 sensor. Should work seamlessly right? It was/is a nightmare. The problem is aligning the com ports of your laptop to the dock, and to Streets and Trips. It is a nightmare. Before you buy this, search "troubleshoot Pharos GPS-500 Microsoft Streets and Trips", or some variation of that. You'll see people on blogs and forums have all kinds of problems with this issue, and there is no simple answer(s). Pharos Support is of little help. They'll email you boilerplate directions with links to X-Port and GPS Gate, utilities that apparently are supposed to fix the problem. They don't work either. I have had my docking station up and running - only to lose it after a restart. If researching troubleshooting suggestions, sitting on tech support hold, downloading drivers and fixes, connecting and reinstalling Bluetooth settings, endless rebooting, and having your success somehow disconnected the next time you turn your computer on sounds like a good time then this is the product for you.

The Bluetooth dock has plenty of power and works great in my car. It is small and unobtrusive. I use it with my laptop and my PDA.

I bought this because it was recommend by microsoft for use with Streets and Trips. As already mentioned it does not work with Streets and trips on Vista. It does however work well with Garmin PC. A few things I'm not happy about. The blue led is to bright when you have the unit on your dash at night and it does not work while you are charging it... very annoying. Update: The unit does not work while charging until the battery has been charged for 15 minutes after being fully discharged.
